Happy 4th of July. Quick post today because lets face it I have some grilling to do! I just wanted to touch on the fact that a website should have some type of meaning that you can capitalize on. Having something you like might not always be whats right.
Example: If you love cows and want to sell cow merchandise and have a cow website BUT cats are the trend, odds are you won’t really turn a profit or have a successful website. Because although you think cows are great and cats are the dumbest thing ever, the major market won’t agree and you will fail…epically. This can ultimately deter you from making a website and give you the idea that their is no money to be made.
Another thing to consider is the timing of your website. If you want to see a website take off in July, you probably shouldn’t start a skiing website then. From talking to professionals in this business I’ve found that more people give up because what THEY think is a great idea, turns out to be a flop. That bad taste in your mouth can turn you off from internet money making.
Keep in mind timing is very important and its possible your website might only have a good few months out of the year. Or even a good few weeks. But keep in mind, if you make money there is only room to expand on that. Bank while you can and then move on to the next venture.

Dropshippers – Worth The Hassle? June 25, 2009

When many people think of making an online business, the idea of selling a product sounds like a good idea. What a lot of people don’t do is write out a business plan which is very important. By making an outline or some kind of cost analysis can save you time and money. One type of business I know that a lot of people check out is drop shipping.
The reason? Drop shipping offers the ability to sell products from someone else with out worrying about shipping and having an inventory!
That sounds good and fine, BUT if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. A lot of drop shippers out there charge a monthly fee. Now this doesn’t sound terrible, a monthly fee isn’t that bad of a thing. If products are genuinely priced fairly then that might be a good venture. On the contrary tho, drop shippers often charge a monthly fee and there products are often not that much lower then normal retail prices. And if a popular drop shipper has a ton of customers everyone is offering the same product at a rock bottom price.
The reality. Dropshipping is usually extremely difficult to make money doing. Usually the only way you can make it worth your time is if your selling more expensive products. The profit margin is larger the more expensive the item. I’ve searched far and wide and to find a solid FREE dropshipper is almost impossible. The site hotbuy4u.com offers free dropshipping but expect everyone else to be selling these products already.
Dropshipping is more of a headache then anything. You don’t have any inventory or have to worry about shipping but you have zero control. If you sell something that gets sold out, tough. If your customer has a problem you can’t do anything cause you don’t take care of the product.
I’d recommend contacting the company themselves. Its not as easy as just calling, but I’ll discuss that in a later issue.
Any questions or comments feel free to ask. Don’t forget to subscribe! And check out Transformers 2! Just saw it last night, great stuff!

First things first. What is SEO? Search Engine Optimization. It’s the ability of your site to appear in popular searches using keywords. The more keyword savy you are the better your website will do on search engines. The benefit of this is that you can get ranked very high without spending a dime. Because its important to remember you could have THE BEST idea in the world, but if no one goes to your website, it doesn’t really matter.
Before you make a website you should take a look at your sites name and think about what your niche is. Your niche is the area you plan to be a “expert” in. If your website is based on fishing, you might want to focus like ” bass fishing”. To get even more specific you could go with ” bass fishing in Canada”. And what that does is focuses what you offer, allows you to be more knowledgeable on your topic, and targets a more specific audience. The more focused your search is, the better you’ll be able to rank. There are TONS of websites out there now that offer what your thinking about already.
A great way to figure out what people are looking for is to use Word Tracker. This will let you type in your niche and see what people actually search for. This tool is not as in depth the paid version but it does give you a overview on your niche. I typed in “Fishing” and got the most common searches that involved fishing.Fishing alone had 2855 searches. Bass fishing was 4th with 502. Bass fishing wasn’t as broad but there are still plenty of people searching for it. I then typed bass fishing and bass fishing in Canada was no where to be found. There were many things such as bass fishing games, large mouth bass, and Florida bass fishing.
So before jumping the gun and buying a site because you think something like bass fishing in Canada is a great idea, stop take a minute, use the free features from word tracker and find out if there is a need for your product. You want a website has potential to be popular but you don’t want it to be lost in a pool of other sites just the same.
