There is the old line that goes something along the lines of ” If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.” And to that I say….Kinda.

When I say shopping will get you paid I’m not lying. You will! Recently EBAY has put out a new rewards program which allows earn a small percent on what you buy.

EXAMPLE: I paid about 10 bucks for a item the other day and earned .22 EBAY Bucks.

So were not talking Benjamins here. BUT I recently discovered a neat site called BigCrumbs!

Big Crumbs is a well established site that is starting to catch on big time with avid/casual Ebay shoppers. On top of the Ebay Bucks you can also earn cash back on purchases through BigCrumbs. So on certain items you could be seeing a substantial amount of kick back.

Now the final part of the puzzle is if you have a PayPal, or some type of credit card that allows you to recieve points or cash back as well with purchases, its not unrealistic that you could be receiving up to 10%+ on items you would have bought ANYWAY.

So now an overview of this mind blowing article on how your getting paid to shop.

1. Buying items on Ebay and receiving small percents back.

TIP: Capitalize on this kick back by offering to buy items for family members and friends who don’t have the time or aren’t internet savvy. (just be sure to get their payment first!)

2. Set up a BigCrumbs account to get additional kickbacks on items that you normally buy.

TIP: Big Crumbs isn’t limited to Ebay! They have THOUSANDS of stores that range from Wal-Mart to Toys R Us! You can even buy online and go to your LOCAL STORE and the same item that is on the shelf. Only difference? You got a cash back percent on that item. (and didn’t have to wait in a line! NICE!)

3. Get a credit card that gives you cash back.

TIP: Be smart. Don’t get a card with a interest rate of 28% so you can get 2.5% back on purchases. If you can get a reasonable rate and pay your card on time than you could potentially save yourself some cash. (while building good credit)

Websites – Timing is everything July 4, 2009

Happy 4th of July. Quick post today because lets face it I have some grilling to do! I just wanted to touch on the fact that a website should have some type of meaning that you can capitalize on. Having something you like might not always be whats right.

Example: If you love cows and want to sell cow merchandise and have a cow website BUT cats are the trend, odds are you won’t really turn a profit or have a successful website. Because although you think cows are great and cats are the dumbest thing ever, the major market won’t agree and you will fail…epically. This can ultimately deter you from making a website and give you the idea that their is no money to be made.

Another thing to consider is the timing of your website. If you want to see a website take off in July, you probably shouldn’t start a skiing website then. From talking to professionals in this business I’ve found that more people give up because what THEY think is a great idea, turns out to be a flop. That bad taste in your mouth can turn you off from internet money making.

Keep in mind timing is very important and its possible your website might only have a good few months out of the year. Or even a good few weeks. But keep in mind, if you make money there is only room to expand on that. Bank while you can and then move on to the next venture.

Well today I want to touch on twitter again. Only having used it for about a few weeks its amazing the results I have had. Every time I mention a new post about my blog I post a link to it with a basic summary on twitter. Anytime I do this I get some of the highest amount of views as I’ve ever got. Its a extraordinarily easy tool to use and anyone looking to expand their blog I would highly recommend.

There are alot of services out there that will help you get “followers” which is essential to reaching people. With no one to send messages to your results will suffer. The nice thing about these services is that you follow about 60 people on a list, then you get put on that list which people then follow you. Just following people is another alternative, although it is painfully slow.

It only takes about a minute to post on Twitter and it will help you get views. Some other ways to think about are signing up and participating in forums, social networking, and discussion boards. The more people that hear what you have to say the more people that will read it.

I recently read that ebay helps over 900,000 people earn a full time income from their own homes. Another million plus earn a hefty part time salary. Do you know any other company that does that? I think not. Now while I’m not preaching about being a ebay sales guru, because I’m not. But I have sold a decent amount of stuff. I’ll tell you how to get started and put some coin in your pocket.

First things first – Sign up. Easy enough. Make sure all your information is valid and the right email is given because this will be a big part of your account.

Second step is to set up your paypal account. Just go to paypal.com and fill out the information. To sell anything on ebay this is essential. It protects both parties while dealing, plus it will help you sleep a bit better at night. If your paypal account isn’t ” activated ” you can’t receive or pay out with it. (more…)

Dropshippers – Worth The Hassle? June 25, 2009

When many people think of making an online business, the idea of selling a product sounds like a good idea. What a lot of people don’t do is write out a business plan which is very important. By making an outline or some kind of cost analysis can save you time and money. One type of business I know that a lot of people check out is drop shipping.

The reason? Drop shipping offers the ability to sell products from someone else with out worrying about shipping and having an inventory!

That sounds good and fine, BUT if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. A lot of drop shippers out there charge a monthly fee. Now this doesn’t sound terrible, a monthly fee isn’t that bad of a thing. If products are genuinely priced fairly then that might be a good venture. On the contrary tho, drop shippers often charge a monthly fee and there products are often not that much lower then normal retail prices. And if a popular drop shipper has a ton of customers everyone is offering the same product at a rock bottom price.

The reality. Dropshipping is usually extremely difficult to make money doing. Usually the only way you can make it worth your time is if your selling more expensive products. The profit margin is larger the more expensive the item. I’ve searched far and wide and to find a solid FREE dropshipper is almost impossible. The site hotbuy4u.com offers free dropshipping but expect everyone else to be selling these products already.

Dropshipping is more of a headache then anything. You don’t have any inventory or have to worry about shipping but you have zero control. If you sell something that gets sold out, tough. If your customer has a problem you can’t do anything cause you don’t take care of the product.

I’d recommend contacting the company themselves. Its not as easy as just calling, but I’ll discuss that in a later issue.
